On 21 July 2022, a section of En Vogue restaurant at Novotel Phuket Kata Avista Resort was transformed into a fun arts and crafts center for kids and families. Seeds of Change Phuket – a Good Shepherd charity project founded by SO ‘n SO Gals in Phuket – conducted a bracelet and elephant soft toy making workshop as well as setting up a pop-up stall to display their beautiful, unique boutique items from their charity gift shop located at this Phuket resort for families.

“The weekly workshops at Novotel Phuket Kata Avista Resort are a great way for us to introduce the Seeds of Change charitable organization,” said Samantha McCue, a volunteer teacher with Seeds of Change. “It is a lovely family activity to create a local handmade product yourself and take it home as a momento of your stay, while supporting a very worthy local cause”.

Since March 2022, Seeds of Change have operated their only boutique charity gift shop in Phuket beside the main swimming pool at Novotel Phuket Kata Avista Resort. The gift shop has an “Eco Chic & Unique” focus” with all products made through re-used and re-purposed fabrics, trims, beads, and other craft items which have been donated to Seeds of Change. This ensures each product is sustainable, upcycled and one-of-a-kind. All items are handmade or re-purposed in Phuket by students and people from the community using the creative skills they have been taught by the Seeds of Change team. Proceeds from all sales help empower the students and give them opportunities they would not normally have had.

“We are so proud to partner and support this great local initiative which has a positive impact on the lives of those who need the most. It is an excellent initiative by Seeds of Change which gives an opportunity for our young guests to learn about the local art and craft as well. A very unique experience.” said Mr. Vineet Mahajan, General Manager of Novotel Phuket Kata Avista Resort & Spa. “Not only are we making a meaningful contribution to local business by supporting local handmade products, but we are empowering underserved people to make a sustainable income for years to come, while providing our guests with the opportunity to purchase a beautiful keepsake of their stay with us.”
